Agatha is a money expert and speaker. She immigrated from Poland when she was 3, built and rebuilt businesses 3 times over, and worked as an accountant at a Big Four accounting firm. She has an online class for personal finance called 6-Week Money Mojo. With a degree in finance major in accounting, you would think she was an expert in managing money but she wasn’t – she ended up totally broke and struggling with money when she was in her twenties! It was one very important lesson she didn’t learn in school simply because they were not teaching it there.

In this interview, Agatha voices out what she believes to be the reason for keeping people ignorant on money management, conspiracy theory or not. This is why she’s sharing some of the lessons she learned from her own experience. They’re lessons that should be instilled in all, especially the young, because money is the single determining factor of how they will live their lives.

MONEY LESSONS

1. ALWAYS BE SAVING AND PAYING YOURSELF FIRST

• While the bills have to be paid, they should not be your top priority (as how broke people think); pay only the minimum, not all of your extra money on credit card debts

• Don’t work and live in the hope that you’ll be able to pay your bills or that’s how you’ll end up all your life

• There are psychological benefits to paying yourself first …

… As you see money build up, you will start to feel more comfortable, more powerful, and more at ease because you now have some security

… When this starts to happen, you’ll exude so much more power and confidence out into the world as your whole psyche and being undergo a big change

… You’re simply building a habit so even one or ten dollars is good enough at first

2. HAVING MONEY CREATES FREEDOM FOR YOU

• You can choose to invest it so your money will work for you

• You’ll have freedom of choice to work only with people you choose

• If you have a business, you’ll be able to keep it up-to-date with the latest trends

3. STICK TO A BUDGET

• Set aside a budget for your basic needs as well as for incidental expenses

• Have an idea of how much you’ll spend on your goals

• Don’t be adjusting your lifestyle as you make more money

• Don’t make a commitment to a fixed expense long-term or you’ll be setting yourself back from the freedom you want

4. RISK TOLERANCE AND TIME – these are the components that should guide you on the choices you make with your money

• If you’re young, you can invest in some more risky things

• If you have a low risk tolerance, don’t invest in high-risk ventures

□ Even in high-risk ventures, only put money you can afford to lose

□ Do your research on where you’ll put your money before you do

If you want to learn more about how to handle your personal money, visit Agatha’s website at Agatha-K.com where you can click on her product page, the 6-Week Money Mojo. This online course is a fun way of learning personal finance which you were supposed to have gotten in school but did not.

Jim is a speaker, author and musician. He has been a motivational speaker for 35 years and is one of the best known in the business. He has won numerous awards delivering more than 2700 presentations to audiences in the U.S. and around the world. He had humble beginnings working in warehouses, driving trucks, selling donuts door-to-door, working as a bank teller, selling motorcycles, and playing the guitar in night clubs and beer pubs.

In this interview, Jim narrates how he was able to transform himself from a broke, bored and restless food junkie to an excellent motivational speaker just by developing one habit and following through with it until he became an expert in the field. This habit is one of the insights he shares not only on being an effective speaker but also on making an intelligent shift for today’s challenging world.

JIM’S LESSONS

TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE

• You have the power to shift your mental attitude and take control of your life

• Learn how to add value and serve others

IF YOU’RE A SPEAKER, KNOW WHAT MOTIVATES YOUR AUDIENCE OR YOUR TEAM

• Focus on what the receiver of your gift needs, not on yourself which only creates anxiety, fear and dysfunction

• Whatever you’re communicating to your audience, study that message and clarify the benefits so that you hit home on what is meaningful to them

    □ Who are these people? Why are they here? How will they benefit from what I’m bringing today?

REMEMBER WE’RE ALL ACORNS ACHING TO BREAK OUT

• The potential to make the world a better place exists in all of us but it always depends on our special strengths; we can’t be good at everything

• If you want to know what creation wants you to do, look at what gives you a sense of meaning, fulfillment, and sustainable happiness

GIVING ONE EXTRA HOUR A DAY TO THE STUDY OF A CERTAIN FIELD WILL MAKE YOU AN EXPERT IN IT

• Also, Intentionally develop the habits of the person you want to become

Ingrid is a leadership coach with an MBA from Yale University. She is co-founder of Strengths Factors which provides organizations materials for coaches and leaders to uncover their teams’ strength factors. She’s also co-author of the enneagram book, The Career Within You, which is published in English, Korean, and Japanese. In 2011, she was named one of the top 100 Most Desirable Mentors for Gen Y for her work helping teens and individuals make the most of their innate strengths.

In this interview, Ingrid discusses the 9 different types of people called enneatypes, based on each type’s motivation or main strength. Find out which category you belong to so you can make the most of your strength and explore how it can help you in your career and in your life.

WHAT ENNEATYPE MEANS

• Everybody has one thing that they do so well and so naturally that they have been practicing it their whole life without even thinking about it

• If you find out what your enneatype is, then there’s so much you can do to harness it

    □ You can highlight it in job interviews

    □ You can base your career choice on it

    □ You can take your role in a group based on your main strength

• While each type has their main strength, they also have their corresponding weakness

• You can shift, mellow, and grow throughout life but there’s one enneatype that stays with you your entire life

• It is a system of needs assessment that is so much more powerful and runs deeper than other kinds so that you could be a slave to your own type if you don’t know how to control it

THE ENNEATYPES, THEIR MOTIVATIONS and THEIR STRENGTHS

1. The PERFECTIONIST – motivated to do the right thing

• Their strength is making improvement; they have much attention to details

2. The HELPER – motivated to meet the needs of others

• They have strong people skills

3. The ACHIEVER – motivated to achieve a successful image

• They are action-oriented and always striving

4. The ROMANTIC – motivated to express individuality

• They have a rich interior life of thoughts and feelings

5. The OBSERVER – motivated to acquire knowledge

• They are the quintessential subject matter experts

6. The QUESTIONER – motivated to reduce risks

• They like to put detailed plans in place

7. The ENTHUSIAST – motivated to explore the possibilities

• They are eternal optimists and enjoy exploring frontiers

8. The ASSERTER – motivated to achieve self-reliance

• They have strong leadership skills

9. The HARMONIZER – motivated to maintain harmony

• They are known for their strength and competence

What enneatype do you resonate with most?

You can learn your enneatype and start aligning with it by going to StrengthsFactors.com where you can read up on the types and take tons of free quizzes and tests to help you figure out your strength. You can get the book, The Career within You, online or in the career section of major bookstores.

Michael is an international inspirational speaker whose life story is full of insurmountable odds that ended well for people he is now helping. His mother had so instilled in him a high level of positivity that he tended to always look at the brighter side of things. He has also learned to appreciate the basic things in life that people take for granted.

The plethora of emotions that you will feel as you listen to his story will make you look at your own life in a different light. You cannot but be inspired with what he did with his life which was almost snapped out of him at a very young age.

MICHAEL’S SAGA

• At 11 months, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an incurable cancer of the central nervous system. It had taken over half of his body and he had a 4% chance of survival.

• His chemotherapy treatment started on his first birthday and lasted for 3 years.

• The doctors were not able to remove some of the cancer cells in a surgical procedure but they gave him a ray of hope with the new drugs they were going to test on 25 patients.

• Within 24 hours that the drugs were administered, all 25 were burned from head to toe.

• They were transferred from the Oncology Ward to the Burns Unit where they were treated for burns. They were completely wrapped up in bandages as they were blistering so badly.

• Michael’s internal organs, lungs and heart, were also badly burned.

• Within one month, 20 of the 25 patients were dead.

• The surviving ones were laid in a box of ice to control the temperature and prevent their brains from deteriorating.

• Within 3 months, 24 of the 25 patients were dead.

• Faced with a choice between discontinuing the drugs and letting her son die, and continuing them and hoping for the best, Michael’s mom chose to continue the treatment.

• Once his mom, wishing to take away his pains, tried to give him a hug but only succeeded in ripping off his bandages with his skin sticking to it.

• Since he had no skin in his hands where they could insert a needle, the doctors had to make Michael cry hard and long to make the veins in his head pop up so they could stab the needle in his skull. This treatment took nearly 4 years.

• He rejoiced at the fact that he had two hands to play catch-ball with his mom every day at the hospital. This was what kept him going until he became as normal as other kids.

• The cancer cells were gone but, unfortunately, he still suffered from the drugs’ after-effects although they were stopped when he was 5.

• At 12, he suffered his first heart attack and stayed long at the hospital. This was by the time he has made it to the South Wales Baseball Team and was representing his state.

• Three years later he was playing baseball again, this time in the U.S. representing his country, Australia.

POSTCRIPT:

• At 15, Michael accepted an offer to play college baseball in Texas but was later sent home when his health suffered another setback

• He worked his way up in GE as one of the National Sales Development Managers but for the last 18 months his health spin has been challenging

• He turned his back on his comfortable life and is now travelling around the world living his dream of giving hope and inspiration in people’s lives

LESSONS

1. You are the most important person in your life so stop putting your health in jeopardy by chasing after material acquisitions.

2. Focus on how you can be of service to others but bear in mind that others can’t expect the best out of you when you’re not being the best you can be.

3. Success is waking up every single day and knowing in your heart that you can make a difference in someone else’s life

4. It’s the focus of your mindset when giving that determines the difference that you make.

Gerard is an author, keynote speaker, and master coach. Dubbed as “The Coaches’ Coach,” he’s the founder of Noble Manhattan, the longest established coach training company in the world outside of the U.S. which is currently training in 27 countries. While it was the insurance industry which developed in him a positive mental attitude, it was the area of personal development which became the focus of his coaching career.

In this interview, he shares some invaluable insights on the concept of coaching, coach-student relationship, and how it can help you be aligned with your true self. You will learn how coaching can transform lives, not only of the individual, but also the consciousness of a whole society.

THE CONCEPT OF COACHING

• It is based on THE 3 PRINCIPLES that every coach should always be aware of …

    a) A great coach is non-judgmental

    b) He or she is non-directional

    c) He or she does not know the answer – it lies within the client

• Great coaches would never tell or advise

• Good coaches realize that the individuals they’re coaching are unique, powerful, resourceful, and incredible human beings even though they don’t know that themselves, and that the power lies in them

• Thus, in a coach-student relationship, the coach should realize that the student is by far the most important person such that s/he should learn to put his/her ego aside

• Coaching is not psychotherapy which goes on for years and years; a few sessions is all that’s needed to have a profound effect on the students that they can take away with them

• A great coach imprints within his/her clients the self-image and the ability that they already have within themselves; s/he simply helps them find it

FINAL LESSONS

• The FINAL QUESTION is – How does this serve me? Ask yourself this whenever you’re watching TV, buying something, or anything at all that you will engage in because …

   □ We actually end up taking on the values of people around us but, quite often, they are not our own true core values

   □ It’s only when we access our true core values and accept who we really are that we can change

   □ As we transform ourselves, we’ll find even decision-making not that difficult

   □ We can raise our level of consciousness to operate from that higher level. We should also always look for answers within, not without

Valerie is a speaker, corporate cheerleader, behavioral analyst, and co-author of Braver than You Think. She experienced several life-threatening incidents at the hands of the man she loved and it was her bravery, training, and resourcefulness that saved her life.

In this interview, Valerie talks about the last-in-a-series of torture episodes she suffered when she was trying to help a mentally-sick man. True to her nature of being a brave woman, she chose to show love and compassion instead of fear and got out of the ordeal safe and wiser.

TEST OF COURAGE

The man she loved was suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) resulting from his horrendous military experiences

She was trying to help him through his struggles but it wasn’t working. He tortured her on several occasions, each time much worse than before

He was trying to get her to experience what he experienced when he was being tortured

IT WAS THE 3RD INCIDENT THAT REALLY TESTED HER COURAGE

• He threw a glass of apple juice over her and started hitting her on the head

• She could see in his eyes that he had gone to a dark place and was locked in there

• She went after the front door but he caught her at the stairway and threatened to throw her down the concrete stairs of the flat’s 3rd floor

• At one point he propped a pillow over her head and held a knife to her

• She knew that the only way this could end was for both of them to be out where there were other people

• She resolved to turn her back on him and walk away but at that moment she focused all her attention on feeling love, patience, and compassion, rather than fear

• When the 36-hour ordeal finally ended, she wanted to talk about it at the supermarket over a cup of coffee but when she remembered that every incident started with having something thrown over her (it might be the hot water this time), she finally called the police and had him arrested

VALERIE’S TIPS

Have an awareness of the situation that you find yourself in and take full responsibility of your actions (not of others’)

Once you have that awareness, accept what has happened

Appreciate what it teaches you

Act in a different way as a result of those lessons

FINAL THOUGHTS

• Sometimes love is the better option to move people from fear and to where you need to be because two people in fear just creates chaos

• Lessons can be learned not only in pain and suffering but also in joyful experiences

We never get more than we can handle.

Joe is a hypnotherapist, NLP practitioner, and author of the book, Screw the System: A Modern Guide to Greatness. What he realized after being inspired by books of great thinkers and motivational seminars was that the system has lulled us into inaction and is preventing us from achieving our potential for greatness. The system refers to the traditional patterns and limiting beliefs that have conditioned our minds and actions. They have to be pushed away and not be allowed to get in the way of our dreams.

In this interview, Joe talks about how he had a good idea for a book but didn’t believe he could write it until he tried and was able to, 10 years after he started to work on his beliefs about himself. He teaches us that we can achieve greater things if we didn’t always accept our negative self-beliefs as the truth. It’s about time, he says, that we programmed a new reality into our life and opened up our mind to a new way of thinking.

HOW TO SCREW THE SYSTEM

Look into your beliefs about yourself and about the world you live in

• You believe something about yourself and you believe it as the truth

• You have to realize that, a lot of times, your beliefs are NOT the truth; you were just led to believe that way by yourself, other people, parents, the media, etc.

Recognize your beliefs that are not true and program yourself with a new reality

• The first step is to CHANGE your belief into a new reality

• The next step is to TAKE ACTION on the new reality that is relevant to what you want to achieve

    □ Work on your new beliefs within yourself through visualization, positive self-talk, etc.

• Seeing positive results from your action is what will gradually transform your beliefs about yourself

FINAL THOUGHTS

• The way you perceive things around you affirms your beliefs, whether true or false, positive or negative

• It only takes one reference for a belief to form, whether it’s true or not

Ryan is an entrepreneur, consultant and founder of Always Overdeliver Marketing. From the time he was a young kid he has shown entrepreneurial skills but it was in his senior year in high school, when he learned about internet marketing, that he became obsessed with it. Now at 26, he is considered a leader in the industry and helps other marketers keep abreast with the latest trends and grow their business even more.

Ryan is aware that only very few businesses really know everything that they’re doing where sales and marketing are concerned. He also knows that many of them throw in money on things they don’t actually need for their business. That is why, in this interview, he gets down to the basics of internet marketing that will not only bring the marketer consistent income but will also be growing for a long, long time.

CHALLENGES MOST INTERNET MARKETERS FACE

• They need to set the foundation correctly to have a business that’s …

    … sustainable and scalable

    … consistent and growing

• If the structure is not right, their business will repeatedly go up and down

□ Spikes are understandable only for seasonal offers

IF YOU’RE AN INTERNET MARKETER …

1. Focus more on the things that really deliver consistent income

• Put 80% of your effort to what brings you 80% of your income

2. Get the right mentors

• Find those who are building along long-term business models instead of short-term ones or loopholes

• Be wary of those “gurus” who don’t walk their talk; they abound on the internet

3. Pick out niches that may have exploded but will definitely be around for years

• Magazines and TV shows are good places to get ideas from. Look also at the way your family and friends spend money

• Position yourself to where the trends are going instead of where they are now

• Think of back-end products you can offer to segments of your niche. This is further helping your clients and keeping a long-term relationship with them

WHERE DRIVING TRAFFIC TO YOUR WEBSITE IS CONCERNED …

1. Don’t focus too much on having a perfect site (perfect layout, design, colors, etc.); it’s not what makes money

2. Focus more on providing good content

3. Do on-page SEO (you can find numerous resources on these)

4. If you’re a beginner, do press releases to get tons of traffic

• prweb.com and webwire.com are good online press release resources

• YouTube.com is also good for driving traffic to your site

5. Do joint ventures with the leaders in the industry

• Find them at the social media sites (Twitter, FB, etc.)

• Consider what value you can offer them and use a subject line that will get their attention

• When you get to partner with leaders, be sure you over-deliver beyond their expectations

6. Bear in mind that while traffic is great, it’s the right kind that you want – those you can convert into buyers

• Know the difference between browsers and buyers; there are indicators that you can research

You can follow Ryan to learn more about having a long-term, scalable business by going to his website at AlwaysOverDeliver.com.

Paul is a speaker, author, mentor, serial entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He has been speaking, mentoring and inspiring hundreds of thousands business people for over 30 years and is known as the Wizard of WOW. He is the guru behind the success of many ground-breaking business ventures. He now serves as chairman of B1G1 (Buy1Give1), the giving organization he co-founded.

You’ll be inspired with the movement that Paul has started which is helping so many people on a global scale. Learn how B1G1 is making a huge impact in the world in a totally new way. (Perhaps you would want to give a goat to the people of Kenya too?)

WHAT’S B1G1

• It’s a platform that enables people to give in an effortless way

• It’s a global business giving initiative launched in 2007 and headquartered in Singapore

• It’s a social enterprise, comprised of a for-profit company and a registered non-profit society which provides support to giving businesses, continuously builds systems to maximize giving effectiveness and actively promotes this way of giving

HOW IT WORKS

• Companies who join B1G1 choose a worthy cause to give to

□ There are 605 Worthy Cause projects listed in B1G1

□ B1G1’s Giving Engine makes sure that 100% of the giving goes to the designated Worthy Cause project chosen by the giving company or individual.

Lance is the author of multiple leadership books and adviser to leaders. He is ranked as one of the top 5 leadership speakers in the U.S. and among the 10 best public speakers in North America.

In this interview, Lance cites the essence of a great leader. His latest book, The Spark, the Flame, and the Torch is actually the history of 35 years of work with about 30 of Fortune 500’s most admired companies and with leaders of countries, states, and cities. He shares his insights on how to be inspired so you can, in turn, inspire others. He also touches on the relevance of money in today’s world and how it’s tied up with your passion.

THE ESSENCE OF GREAT LEADERS

• Their power comes from the soul and reaches to a place that’s far beyond personality

• They inspire people, not just motivate them

• They radiate inspiration without saying anything

TO BE A GREAT LEADER …

You need to be inspired yourself first; that’s the Spark.

Then you’re able to inspire other people; that’s the Flame

And then you can change the world; that’s the Torch

HOW TO BE INSPIRED

A. UNDERSTAND …

1. WHY – Understand why you’re here

□ Why am I on this planet?

2. BE – Understand how your behavior and values will be like

□ How am I going to be while I’m here?

3. DO – Understand what you will do to change the world

□ What’s my calling (gifts, skills, challenges)?

B. HAVE A DREAM

      • This is not your mission, vision or values (they’re old-fashioned junk, according to Lance)

      • Nobody does anything phenomenal without a dream

C. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS

      • Learn how to have inspiring dialogues (See the 5 Dynamics at Secretan.com/5D)

HOW TO INSPIRE OTHERS: The C.A.S.T.L.E. Principles

• Courage

• Authenticity

• Service

• Truthfulness

• Love

• Effectiveness

FINAL THOUGHTS

• People get inspired with what they’re fed up by

• It’s impossible to be inspired by anything that has no relationship with money

• There should be a perfect intersection between your passion and your talent

• Money is here to stay and will never be irrelevant because it’s energy and also a signal about your value and worth

• The real issue is not the money but how much you’re willing to invest in yourself

Lance has appeared in all kinds of media. You can follow him at Secretan.com. You can pick up a copy of his book, The Spark, the Flame, and the Torch at his website and at other online bookstores.
